Sarah Bean Smith
Attorney
Sarah’s practice encompasses a variety of civil and criminal litigation matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, white-collar criminal defense, state and federal criminal defense, and government investigations. She is currently admitted to practice in the State of Tennessee and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
During law school, Sarah interned with the Blount County Public Defender’s Office before continuing an externship with Costner Greene in Maryville, Tennessee. As a member of the firm for over ten years, she partners with her clients to provide strategic guidance, whether it be a criminal or civil matter. Sarah has served as Counsel on several white-collar criminal defense matters that have required extensive planning and demanding representation.
Sarah and her husband, Shane, live in Maryville with their two boys, Luke and James. They enjoy golf, the lake, and attending University of Tennessee sporting events.
"There is an expression that law school does not truly teach you about the practice of law. While some may argue with this statement, I find it to be true. As an attorney, I have been exposed to several different areas of practice, including domestic, criminal, personal injury, medical malpractice, and social security disability cases. Each area of the law brings unique cases and opportunities to help our clients achieve desired results. I have been involved in multiple jury trials that have allowed me to gain experience in the courtroom. However, one thing that is not unique to the area of practice, yet so very important, is the relationships built along the way. Whether your case involves criminal charges or a personal injury, the legal process is just that...a process. And that process allows me to get to know the client. And for me, that is the single greatest benefit of the legal profession."
